KFRPB Series Foil Strain Gages for Composite Materials
Kyowa
The KFRPB series foil strain gages for composite materials are self-temperature-compensation gages (SELCOM gages) suitable for strain measurement of composite materials such as CFRP and GFRP. They are made up of polyimide with resistive element made of NiCu alloy foil. The special gage pattern minimizes the effect of self-heating due to gage current and the effect of reinforcement of low-elasticity materials. They have self-temperature-compensation of 0 to 150ºC and an applicable linear expansion coefficients (×10-6/℃) of 1,3,6 and 9. They are able to withstand approximately 2.2% of strain limits at normal temperature and a fatigue lives at normal temperature of up to 1x10^6 (±1500μm/m) times. To ensure accurate measurement by avoiding the self-heating effect of gage current, consider the following: 1. Select a lower bridge excitation if the amplifier allows selection. 2. Active-dummy method. 3. 350Ω strain gages.
