Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) are used for a variety of products including mobile phones, car navigation systems and digital cameras. To evaluate the mechanical and thermal characteristics of these PCB, the KFRS Series Foil Strain Gages for Printed Boards were developed by integrating the advantageous features of KFG and KFR gages. The dimensions of gage base (Bondable space to mounted components and narrow parts) is 1.2 mm long by 1.1 mm wide (Uniaxial), 2.5 mm long by 2.5 mm wide (Biaxial or triaxial). It has a linear expansion coefficient of 13 x 10-6/ºC, hence suitable for component-mounted board. The self-temperature-compensation range is made as wide as –30 to 120ºC to satisfy thermal cyclic tests of PCB. The applicable linear expansion coefficients (×10-6/℃) is 13. It can withstand a strain limit of 1.6% at normal temperature and a fatigue lives at normal temperature of up to 2x10^6 (±1500μm/m) times. Besides the silver-clad copper lead wire, KFRS strain gages with pre-attached lead cables are available on request.
