The SDL Atlas Fabric Touch Tester or FTT is capable of determining sensations of fabric-skin touch by measuring skin touch comfort objectively and quantitatively in one simple test. In just a five minute test the FTT provides the objective assessment of fabric quality and performance with 18 indices through the measurement of properties involving fabric thickness, fabric compression, fabric bending, fabric surface roughness, fabric surface friction and fabric thermal properties. FTT has proven correlation with Kawabata system and human subjective touch sensations. It is able to measure and distinguish fabric touch comfort properties allowing prediction of comfort perception of fabrics. It has a QC software that visualises Primary Sensory Indices (PSI) differences for different fabrics on a radar chart. The test materials includes multifiber, cork liners, abradents, phenolic yellowing, detergents, ballasts and crocking fabric.
